Afzaal Ahmad Choudhry is a Director of Morgan Hill Solicitors and Head of the Personal Injury Department, based at the firm's Ilford Head Office. Career

Afzaal joined Morgan Hill Solicitors in August 2022 and was subsequently appointed a Director. Before joining the firm, he practised with London-based SRA-regulated law firms, following an earlier career as a Senior Associate at a reputable law firm in Lahore, Pakistan.

Areas of Practice

• Personal Injury — road traffic accident claims, public and occupier's liability, employer's liability and medical negligence, including MOJ Portal and Official Injury Claim (OIC) Portal matters, post-portal proceedings, interim applications and settlement negotiations through to final disposal.
• Civil Litigation — pre-action protocol correspondence, particulars of claim, witness statements, interim applications, grounds of appeal and written submissions across a broad range of contentious matters.
• Immigration — representations, grounds of appeal and pre-action judicial review correspondence in matters before the Home Office and the Immigration Tribunals.
• Family — matrimonial and children matters, informed by substantial experience before the family courts of Pakistan.
• PCO & TfL Licensing Appeals — a particular specialism. Afzaal acts for London private hire drivers and operators challenging Transport for London (TfL) decisions to refuse, suspend or revoke their licences, from show-cause and warning-letter representations through to appeals to the Magistrates' Court under the Private Hire Vehicles (London) Act 1998 (which must be brought within 21 days of TfL's decision) and onward appeals to the Crown Court by way of rehearing.

International & Cross-Border Experience

In Pakistan, Afzaal appeared as lead counsel before the subordinate judiciary, the banking, civil and family courts, and the High Court, including in the High Court's original constitutional jurisdiction (writs of habeas corpus, mandamus, certiorari, quo warranto and prohibition) and before full benches of the High Court in its appellate jurisdiction.

This cross-jurisdictional experience informs his approach to complex instructions and supports the firm's work for domestic and international clients, including on cross-border matters involving Africa, the Americas, Europe, the Middle East and South Asia.
